Youth Leadership Camps   Community Youth Leadership opportunities:

  • Youth @ City Council currently accepting applications

People Reaching Out has the great fortune of continuing the Youth @ City Council Program started by Michael Minnick at Sacramento Enriches. Youth @ City Council is a program that educates youth in 8th-12th grade about municipal government. The program prepares youth to be more civically informed and prepared for service learning opportunities within their communities. Youth attend weekly City council meetings on Tuesdays and civic education trainings on Thursdays at Sacramento City Hall.

We are currently accepting applications from youth in middle and high schools residing in ANY of the 8 City Council Districts for the class of Spring 2012. The program will begin in January of 2012 and run through June 2012. Please share this information with your networks and youth you work with in the community. There are only 30 spots available for class of Spring 2012.   More >>>>

GREEN CORPS PROGRAM DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS:

The Soil Born Farms Green Corps Job Program aims to connect Sacramento youth  facing diverse barriers to employment, with hands-on training and work experiences that will lead them to higher education or employment in a Green Career pathway.

Green Corps is a job program for high school seniors who wish to build leadership skills through community-focused projects.   Our primary considerations for participating youth are their personal motivation and attitude.  We are looking for youth who want to build job and life skills, have a positive attitude, and wish to help their community.  In addition, it helps if youth have experience working outdoors or within a team and have an interest in one of our four project areas (sustainable urban agriculture, environmental stewardship, health education, and food access).
