YDN has created three policy briefs that help advance youth development approaches. Both an abstract and a full length brief are available on these issues. The Why Invest in Youth Development brief makes the case for why the youth development approach should matter and offers several policy suggestions related to expanding the quality and quantity of supports and opportunities for youth. The Civic Engagement and Service Learning brief provides an overview of service learning, why it is a powerful strategy for youth success, examples of service learning and youth civic engagement in the region and recommendations for schools, Community agencies and municipal governments to support service learning. The College Access and Success brief written for the Lumina Foundation, is a case study of the Hiram Johnson High School College Access project and includes some recommendations for action.
