10th Anniversary Mentoring Conference: The First Decade of Innovation and Excellence

January 29 and 30, 2009

Mentoring 101: Core Principles and Practices* will be offered again as a pre-conference full-day course on Thursday, January 29th and more workshops on Recommended Best Practices will be offered on Friday, January 30th.

Conference brochure and online registration is available for the Conference http://ent.groundspring.org/EmailNow/pub.php?module=URLTracker&cmd=track&j=242074692&u=2563295

Guest Contributors Stephanie Inyama and Stacey Savelle, who presented *Mentoring 101* at this annual conference, *Mentoring Youth: Defining the Difference It Makes* in January 2008, say it best: "If you are aware of other programs unfamiliar with Recommended Best Practices, be a friend and pass on the information. It is the responsibility of *all* mentoring professionals to ensure we support and become resources to each other. As the ultimate goals of mentoring are *child safety* and *lasting connections*, we are obligated to our youth to ensure mentoring is a safe haven even for those not in our own programs. As presenters, we have discovered there are many who mistakenly believe their programs are safe, have proper structure, and provide sufficient monitoring and support to program participants. Remember, *you don't know what you don't know...*"

Check out *Connections Conference Brief" October 2008 edition <http://ent.groundspring.org/EmailNow/pub.php?module=URLTracker&cmd=track&j=242074692&u=2563294
to read what these two expert mentoring consultants recommend all programs have as their foundation. When Stephanie and Stacey presented *Mentoring 101 this past January, they received an average rating of 3.9 out of 4.0!

Here's what attendees had to say:

   - "Excellent presenters! Very knowledgeable, supportive, passionate and
willing to answer questions and provide resources."

   - "Very practical, held my attention throughout the day using a variety
of strategies; presenters had a wealth of information and experience,
   enthusiasm, real integrity, etc.!"
